Crazy or not, the result was worth it, in my opinion! It looks totally natural. Would you mind posting the 3 original images (reduced size) to your scraps, so I can see what they looked like? ("No" is a perfectly acceptable answer.)
30MB - my poor little D50 only produces 5MB RAW files (only a 6MP camera)!
Is Photomatix Pro the name of the software you use to combine the images for HDR? I'd like to try it, but my only tool is PSE7, which I'm pretty sure doesn't allow for this sort of work.
