Description
Ocean Point, Boothbay, Maine. This spot is about 0.5 mile from where I captured my last post, "November Sunrise". The tortuous coastline in Maine, affords one the opportunity to photograph sunrise and sunset essentially on the same rocky beach.

Well, I can personally see why this was rejected. Without being rude, I hate to say this, but it's kind of boring.
The water's presence has a limited effect on the overall image. It's not a long exposure, nor was it shot in such a way as to show detail of the water. Just somewhat of a placeholder value, and if there were other things in the scene that were more interesting, this would be fine.
But there aren't. The rocks in the scene are under-exposed. There's not a lot of detail, contrast, or color to be extracted from them, either. Thus, you have a full two-thirds of the image that's basically devoid of interest for most observers.
The sky, on the other hand, feels massively brighter than the foreground -- for someone with Singh Ray filters and a 5D MK II, I do not get a sense of expertise when I view this. The lighting is not balanced at all, and the white balance is terribly cold.
